Embrace the Nordic Spirit

Gammel Dag

A Scandinavian Midsummer celebration

Join us in the quaint village of Peterson for Gammel Dag, a vibrant festival that brings the 'good ol’ days' of Scandinavian culture to life. Gustav and Gunnar, our beloved twin giant gnomes, welcome you to a world of folk arts, traditional music, dance, and an array of tasty Nordic treats. Discover our community’s spirit through hands-on workshops, engaging demonstrations, and a variety of fun activities suited for all ages.

Whether it’s your first visit or a cherished annual tradition, Gammel Dag promises an enriching experience steeped in heritage and joy.

Hands-On Heritage

Wanna Try Your Hand?

Thanks to our annual grant, Gammel Dag proudly presents skilled artisans who bring more than just their crafts; they bring stories and traditions. They're not only showcasing their expertise in Scandinavian arts but also imparting their knowledge through interactive workshops.

From rosemaling to wood carving, and unique kubbestols to Sami-inspired jewelry, experience these traditional Scandinavian arts firsthand. Dive into the rich cultural tapestry of our heritage and discover a new passion or revive an old one.

Gammel Dag is one of my favorite summer festivals. It’s fun to see the traditional arts and crafts, listen to good music, eat good food and spend the day in a beautiful small town.
